John's Notes: Sometimes the recorder tries to force a photograph out of mediocre light. It's tempting because it's such hard work making captivating images. But sometimes light appears and you know at that moment the result will be engaging and pleasing. This scene unfolded merely twenty minutes from my home during a monsoon. Williamson Valley, AZ is a bucolic landscape that provides plenty of fodder for me in bad weather. This particular evening I was looking west, to the left of this scene, and then, with one or two minutes of light left in the day THIS happened. Sometimes drama doesn't require lightning or extraordinary geological features. It's all around us if we slow down and take a look. The golden green grass was pointing up the whole time, urging me to look more closely; and boasting about its home.
